Das Futur I

Das Futur I (simple future) drückt Tatsachen und Gewissheit über ein Ereignis in der Zukunft. In diesem Fall fehlt ein 'Standpunkt', eine 'Haltung' gegenüber der Handlung.

Das Futur I wird verwendet um:

• Ein Ereignis vorherzusagen:
  It will rain tomorrow.
• Mit 'I' oder 'We', um eine spontane Entscheidung auszudrücken:
  I'll pay for the tickets by credit card.
• Um eine Absicht auszudrücken: I'll do the washing-up.
  He'll carry your bag for you.
• Mit Verneinung einen Unwillen ausdrücken:
  The baby won't eat his soup.
  I won't leave until I've seen the manager!
• In Frageform mit "shall", um ein Angebot zu machen:
  Shall I open the window?
• Mit 'we' und "shall" in der Frageform, um einen Vorschlag zu machen:
  Shall we go to the cinema tonight?
• In Frageform mit "shall", um um Rat oder Anleitung zu bitten:
  What shall I tell the boss about this money?
• Mit 'you', um Befehle zu geben:
  You will do exactly as I say.
• Mit 'you' in Frageform um eine Einladung auszusprechen:
  Will you come to the dance with me?
  Will you marry me?

Bemerkung: Im zeitgemässen Englisch wird 'will' 'shall' vorgezogen. 'Shall' wird vor allem mit 'I' und 'we' verwendet, um ein Angebot oder einen Vorschlag zu machen, oder um um Rat zu fragen (siehe oben). In den anderen Personen (you, he, she, they) wird 'shall' nur in der Literatur oder Poesie verwandt, z.B. "With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, She shall have music wherever she goes."

Die Form "it will" wird nicht verkürzt.

*Shall ist veraltet, wird aber im täglichen Gebrauch in der Bejahung oder der Frage mit I und we in gewissen Fällen statt "will" verwendet (siehe oben).
